2. McGill-Toolen (46-7) 6A The Dirty Dozen have a fairly easy road to Pelham, but that 8 a.m. match-up in the first round of Elite Eight play could come against either Huntsville or Grissom. 2
3. Grissom (52-10) 6A Grissom has struggled in the past week, but that just stokes the competitive fire in coach Tanya Wigley-Broadway. Angry Tigers are always dangerous. 3
4. Pelham (40-10) 6A A Vestavia-Pelham match-up in the second round of regionals will put one on the road to probably Huntsville or Grissom. 4
5. Briarwood Chr. (32-5) 5A Injured Lions have returned for Briarwood, making them stronger during the stretch run. Anything less than earning the Class 5A final will be disappointing. 5
6. Vestavia Hills (45-12) 6A The Rebels are one of the best Class 6A team in the competitive Birmingham area, but they'll need to beat Pelham (1-1 this season) to host sub-state. 6
7. St. Paul's (48-5) 5A These Saints play like the devil on the court. Expect a Briarwood-St. Paul's final at the Elite Eight. 7
8. Bayside (45-10) 2A The Admirals should cruise into Pelham where they'll likely meet new Class 2A rival Addison. 9
9. Robertsdale (40-8) 6A Robertsdale will probably face McGill in the second round and a loss puts the Golden Bears on the road in a probable match-up with Enterprise or Auburn. 10
10. Sparkman (39-15) 6A First-year coach Shannon Phillips has the Senators playing great volleyball. Unfortunately they face Grissom in the first round of regionals. NR
11. Bob Jones (37-19) 6A Another probable casualty to the state's new playoff format will most likely keep the Patriots at home during Elite Eight play. 8
12. Deshler (51-9) 4A The top-ranked team in Class 4A, the Tigers should earn an Elite Eight berth, but Wilson may spoil the regional party. 12
13. Hoover (31-24) 6A The Bucs have their best shot at an Elite Eight in several years. Wins over Homewood and Thompson will allow Hoover to host an over-matched seed. 11
14. Addison (42-4) 2A Addison is the second-ranked team in Class 2A and should cruise through Saturday's regional and sub-state play. 13
15. John Carroll (27-11) 5A The Cavaliers get to avoid Briarwood until the regional final and should host the sub-state round. 14
16. Mountain Brook (31-13) 6A Inconsistency has been the norm for the Spartans. They face a tough Vestavia Hills in Saturday's first round of regionals. 15
17. Montgomery Acad. (39-7) 3A The best team in Class 3A has played some tough competition in the past weeks, stepping up with the elite of Alabama volleyball. They're even stronger for it. 8
18. Gulf Shores (35-13) 5A The Dolphins face a tough first round game at regionals, playing rival UMS-Wright with the winner assured of a sub-state berth. 18
19. Hartselle (44-14) 5A The Tigers have a good shot at winning Regional D, which would virtually assure an Elite Eight berth. 19
20. Wilson (33-8) 4A The second-ranked Warriors fell in the area final to top-ranked Deshler, but should get another shot at the Tigers in regionals. 22
21. Alabama Chr. (22-9) 4A The Eagles should soar through both regionals and sub-state to earn another Elite Eight berth for coach Denise Ainsworth. 17
22. Jacksonville (38-8) 4A The Golden Eagles make their first appearance in the poll, but face stiff competition at regionals. NR
23. Geraldine (54-6) 3A The Bulldogs are second-ranked in Class 3A and must beat some of the top competition in the class to win Saturday's regional. 23
24. Austin (35-25) 6A Unfortunately for the Black Bears, a hot Sparkman team eliminated Austin in area play Tuesday. 24
25. Kinston (32-5) 1A Top-ranked in Class 1A, Kinston has yet to lose to an in-class opponent this season. Look for a final-round appearance in the Elite Eight. 25
